2026 DOB Updates Owners Should Not Ignore
Natural gas alarm deadline: January 1, 2027
DOB announced a January 1, 2027 installation deadline for covered residential occupancies. Owners should review the official alarm FAQ rather than purchasing an unidentified device based only on advertising.
Local Law 152 gas-piping certification migration
Beginning July 27, 2026, certifications and related transactions move to DOB NOW: Safety. Owners should confirm that the Licensed Master Plumber and filing representative have the required accounts and stakeholder access.
2026 sustainability filing deadlines
DOB has warned that deadline extensions granted in 2025 do not automatically apply to the 2026 filing year. Covered owners must separately track benchmarking, energy grades, greenhouse-gas reporting, lighting/submetering and audit requirements.
